A favorite pastime of the people from Bilbao, is to get together in the "Txokos," private gastronomic societies, to indulge themselves in the typical dishes of the area, which are very diverse and exquisite. Do not be surprised if you hear singing coming from the bars, or roars of "¡GOOOOL!" when the players of FC Bilbao (the local football team), scores. Bilbaínos, as the inhabitants of the city are called, are famous for their hospitality, and making people feel at home.
SHOPPING
Shops usually open at 10am and close at around 8:30pm, from Monday to Saturday and they usually close in the afternoon from about 2:00 pm until 4:30 pm. Shopping for antiques, typical ceramics, exquisite cakes and pastries or the latest fashion is one of the options offered by the shops of Bilbao. Shopping in Bilbao is a unique occasion for enjoying the architectural heritage of the city and while you’re going out, don’t forget to enjoy the popular pintxos, which you will find in one of the many taverns or cafés alongside the streets.
The Old Quarter, Indautxi and Ensanche are the main shopping areas in the city. Around this neighborhood you will find a wide range of products in both traditional establishments as well as in shops selling the latest fashion goods, and in modern shopping centers.
Parks
Jardines de Albia is a great and gardened urban space, where a statue by Benlliure is commemorating its writer, Antonio Trueba, stands out, the park is open for 24 hours to the public.
The Most impressive building is perhaps the San Vicente church. This is a chapel which has a late Gothic style and was built at the end of the 16th century. Nearby this chapel you can find a modern building which belongs to the Basque Nationalist Party (P.N.V.). It has been constructed on the site where the founder of Basque nationalism was born. When you cross the calle Ibáñez de Bilbao, the Palacio de Justicia de Bilbao rises up.
Also there are many cafes to visit one of Bilbao's most popular cafés, is called the Café Iruña is a nice place to relax in while drinking beers with your friends, day or night.
